Within one month, Cognita mobilised a programme team of 30 people who helped ensure the delivery process was quality-assured. They shaped and drew up the resource plans, and put in place a risk and reward schemed for the supplier.
The team provided a deliverables-based solution that became the management layer of the whole supply chain programme and led to its successful delivery to the UK, South Africa and Greece.

IT PROGRAMME HAD GROWN TOO BIG FOR ITS BOOTS
Boots had one of the most complex IT programmes in the UK. With a high number of niche consultancies supplying similar services, there were no outcome assurances. Worse, there was no financial control or governance to keep programme costs down and achieve the results required. Add in the lack of formalised processes to mobilise teams across the varied suppliers, and you’re looking at a tangled, confused – and costly – situation.
RESTORING ORDER TO THE PROGRAMME
Cognita was brought in to bring order to Boots’ vast IT infrastructure. We mobilised a management team to deliver cost savings and improve efficiencies within the programmes. This we did, immediately. We transitioned teams from Time and Materials buying solutions on programmes to outcome-led programmes under one supplier. This made programme governance much more effective and cheaper. So effective were the results, Boots asked Cognita to start capitalising certain teams to outcome-led work: helping them hit programme deadlines quickly and improve overall programme costs.
